There's so much great music coming out these days, it's awfully difficult not to:
But, here it is - my top 11 drum n' bass tunes of May, 2017 for your listening pleasure. The highlights include: "Look" by Sub Killaz - a positively stunning vocal roller that I've had on repeat since I bought it; "Back to Reality" by RMS, a Canadian producer/DJ who we've had at #TDotLove a few times, and is making some of the best jungle in the world right now; the cheeky "98 Style" by Germany's DJ Sly, a bubbly roller that's a sure fire dancefloor motivator; and the S.P.Y. remix of Metrik & Rothwell's "We've Got It", which is a beast of a tune, and my pick to be the anthem of summer 2017.
So, without further ado, here's the list:
If you don't want to stream it in the player, here's the link to the chart on Juno Downloads. Now, keep your nose out of my crates. ;)
These tunes will feature in heavy rotation on our weekly #TDotLove radio show, Wednesday nights from 8-10 pm EST on YouTube.
Selectra, Savvy C, and Data-Bass dropped by the #TDotLove studio to lay it on thick, and man, it was a night of pure, unadulterated fire!
This month's tunes have a good mix from some amazing producers that are really coming into their own. Tyke's "Dream Catcher" is as good of a dancefloor mover as I've heard in a long time. Huge tunes from Break/Kyo in "Give In To Me" and Metrik with "Electric Echo", and beautiful, urgently soulful business in Bailey's "Stargazing" and SUV & Jaxx's jungle stepper "No Discrimination."
Most of these will make an appearance on my birthday event - #TDotLove at Bassline. See you there.
This month's list is mostly good-time tunes, with a bit of the pretty stuff mixed in. Jungle music is having a renaissance of late, and there's some outright sexy business being made, with original vocals. Potential Badboy's "Revolution" is case in point. I'm also featuring some home-grown Toronto business on Inner City Dance and Intaface Audio here - not out of some sense of obligation, but because the tunes are fierce. Skaylz, The Junk-E & RMS' "Test Tube" is rolling thunder, and DCision & Colin All Shotz "Doors of Perception" brings vibes ever upwards.
You can play them straight off of Juno's site as well.
I was up second this week, with a bit of the soulful stuff.
Tune in each and every Wednesday night from 8-9 pm EST on the Electronic DJ Network. Subscribe to the channel, get involved in the chat, and spread the word!
It's been a while since I posted one of these lists. Not that I haven't been buying music, and not that I want to keep all the good stuff a secret, I just never got around to making a list. You'll forgive me as soon as you've stocked up on these tunes.
There's a couple from one of my favourite new producers - Salaryman - that show he's every bit as good of a songwriter for dubwise/ragga tunes as he is for liquid dnb. There's also a couple off of Liondub/Marcus Visionary's label that I've been waiting patiently for since I heard them caning them back in the spring. Last but not least, there's a few super-fun rollers, and an unlikely liquid tune from Jaydan.
